Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; must present diploma within 90 days
  • Completion of Medical Assistant externship (160 hours)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competent and validated in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, work independently and as part of a team, solve standard problems, and collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
