About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact for patients entering the outpatient medical facility
- Greet and check in patients
- Verify patient information
- Schedule appointments
- Update electronic health records (EHR)
- Facilitate intake procedures, including healthcare and insurance forms
- Collect payments for services
- Build patient, family, support-group, and healthcare-provider confidence through effective communication and competent job performance
- Follow organizational and local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures
- Perform specific departmental tasks and/or orient other staff as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
- 1 year as typically acquired in a similar environment
- Basic knowledge of insurance policies and procedures, as well as patient billing
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule data and instructions
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established options
- Ability to ensure patient Protected Health Information (PHI) privacy
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and staff members
