Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics
  • Perform commonly used echocardiography procedures with a high level of competence
  • Perform transesophageal echocardiograms, including 3D imaging
  • Perform intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms
  • Perform structural heart procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab
  • Perform complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms
  • Perform high-complexity cardiac sonography procedures
  • Perform adult congenital heart echocardiograms
  • Participate in cardiac research projects
  • Perform assigned specialized procedures
  • Orient other staff to the department
  • Respond to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and hospital emergencies
  • Recognize, prioritize, and communicate suspicious or abnormal results
  • Maintain patient PHI privacy
  • Collaborate with peers and healthcare providers to achieve departmental and organizational objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 2 of the following: RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer; ACS (CCI)-Advanced Cardiac Sonographer; ARDMS-RDCS(PE)-Pediatric; ARDMS-RDCS(FE)-Fetal
  • OR performance of one qualifying advanced specialization, including high-complexity 3D/4D and strain imaging, structural heart echocardiograms, LVAD and ECMO imaging, cardiac transplant patients, adult congenital patients, cardiac research projects, vascular modalities, or cardiac MRI
  • 5 years recent relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment
  • Substantial experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and hospital emergencies
  • Extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, RIS, LIS, EHR, EPIC, and PACS
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to resolve atypical or infrequent problems and provide informal guidance to junior team members
  • Ability to ensure patient PHI privacy
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
