About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, organize, monitor, and oversee highly complex projects and project portfolios supporting operational excellence and system integration
- Manage projects and programs related to operational excellence, rapid integration/improvement, and continuous improvement
- Develop project work plans
- Establish project communication and risk management plans
- Redesign workflow processes
- Develop metrics and perform return-on-investment analysis
- Lead cross-functional teams
- Oversee project managers and project coordinators
- Provide coaching and mentorship
- Exercise expert authority over assigned projects independently under broad policy guidelines
- Identify and escalate issues to project sponsors and owners
- Use Sutter Health and Project Management Institute tools and standards to keep projects on track, complete deliverables, and integrate with other initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Hospital Administration (MHA), or Business Administration (MBA)
- 8 years recent relevant experience
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Rapid Improvement Events/RITs, and A3 problem solving
- Experience applying process improvement tools in complex healthcare environments
- Experience identifying root causes, eliminating waste, reducing variation, standardizing workflows, and improving operational performance
- Experience designing and implementing standardized operating procedures, playbooks, toolkits, and best practices across multiple sites or business units
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities/projects and tight deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of health care delivery and quality improvement
- Ability to manage large and diverse teams within specified timeframes
- Ability to gain cooperation and support through influence and persuasion
- Conceptual, analytical, negotiation, complex problem-solving, and actionable-recommendation skills
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across the organization
- Detail oriented, self-directed, and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Customer service focus
- Ability to cultivate a network within Sutter Health and gain senior-leader support
- Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, project management, and presentation applications
