About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide clinical expertise, medical communication, and quality assessment for successful and timely patient transfer/transport and direct admission to and from affiliate facilities
Act as the single point of contact for patient transfer/transport arrangements and admission and placement processes
Serve as liaison to physicians, hospitals, and other care providers referring patients
Assess medical necessity using InterQual or related admission criteria
Recognize emergency or high-priority situations and take immediate appropriate action
Facilitate information sharing and cooperation among stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve desired outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
RN-Registered Nurse of California Upon Hire
5 years of recent relevant experience in critical care/Emergency Department; Transfer Center, or Nurse Supervisor
Knowledge of principles and practices of patient care with the ability to understand medical diagnoses and treatment information
Knowledge of InterQual or related admissions criteria to assess for medical necessity
Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory guidelines, including HIPPA, The Joint Commission (TJC), and EMTALA
Familiarity and understanding of managed care terminology
Ability to recognize an emergency or high priority situation, and take appropriate and immediate action
Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Collaboration skills to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various stakeholders
Customer service focus in all decisions and actions
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with tact and diplomacy, and present information to varied audiences
Organizational skills to manage and re-prioritize activities and projects while meeting deadlines
Ability to maintain effective working relationships
