About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clinical expertise, medical communication, and quality assessment for timely transfer/transport and direct admission of patients
- Act as the single point of contact for patient transfers/transport and admission and placement processes
- Serve as liaison to physicians, hospitals, and other care providers referring patients
- Assess medical necessity using InterQual or related admissions criteria
- Recognize emergency or high-priority situations and take appropriate immediate action
- Facilitate information sharing and cooperation among stakeholders to resolve problems and achieve desired outcomes
- Manage and reprioritize activities and projects while maintaining responsiveness
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- RN-Registered Nurse of California Upon Hire
- 5 years of recent relevant experience in critical care/Emergency Department; Transfer Center, or Nurse Supervisor
- Knowledge of principles and practices of patient care with the ability to understand medical diagnoses and treatment information
- Knowledge of InterQual or related admissions criteria to assess for medical necessity
- Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, The Joint Commission, and EMTALA, pertaining to healthcare practices
- Familiarity and understanding of managed care terminology
- Ability to recognize emergency or high-priority situations and take immediate action
- Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to use essential applications and/or databases associated with the role’s duties and responsibilities
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing business priorities
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
