About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the development and delivery of performant and reliable sealing systems used in commercial-scale carbon-capture machines
- Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentorship to the Seal Team
- Coordinate seal system development across design, verification, testing, and deployment activities
- Develop seal architectures and establish priorities
- Remove technical and operational roadblocks
- Ensure seal engineering packages are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements
- Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, testing, simulation, quality, and project management stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship throughout ideation, design, verification, testing, and deployment
- Ensure 3D CAD models, drawings, documentation, and bills of material meet requirements and acceptance criteria
- Coordinate development activities with the Contactor Manager, Project Managers, and other stakeholders
- Contribute to technical analysis, failure investigations, corrective actions, and continuous development
- Support successful customer deployment, including occasional customer-site and supplier-facility travel
- Build team capability and support high-performing talent
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of sealing applications, including O-rings, lip seals, mechanical seals, and other sealing technologies used in mechanical systems
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent
- Ability to review 3D designs and 2D engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of machine design and materials fundamentals
- Demonstrated problem-solving and failure-analysis capabilities
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage priorities, remove roadblocks, mentor team members, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
