About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Carry out maintenance, repair, commissioning and service support for smoke/fire dampers, control panels and ventilation equipment
  • Communicate technical information and site requirements to the Service office
  • Perform fault finding
  • Liaise with customers and company employees
  • Complete relevant paperwork using the online platform
  • Complete Dynamic Risk Assessments
  • Identify commercial opportunities and generate leads
  • Follow company policies, procedures and processes for REFCOM, Safe Contractor and CHAS compliance
  • Work as a standalone Service Engineer on customer sites
  • Report to the Area Service Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience as a Service Engineer working with smoke, duct work and fire damper equipment
  • Basic knowledge of ventilation and smoke damper control and industry practices
  • Ability to deal with customers and communicate technical information and site requirements
  • Awareness of Health and Safety requirements to industry standards
  • Understanding of risk assessments and method statements
  • Base-level electrical and wiring knowledge
  • Previous experience in duct work
  • GCSE or equivalent
  • Engineering/Mechanical type qualification
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Computer literacy
  • ACRIB / CSCS Card or other safety awareness course
  • Based in or around Reading, Basingstoke, Guildford, High Wycombe, or willing to travel to these locations each day
  • Desirable: Dynamic Risk Assessments, smoke damper control products, manufacturer training, HVAC, controls, practical smoke/fire damper or controls experience, lead generation
  • Desirable qualifications: IPAF, PASMA, HND/C Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Engineering/Mechanical or Electrical, Level 2 or 3 NVQ Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, controls qualification
