About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape the engineering culture at Switch2 and build a collaborative, open environment
  • Influence future engineering and product strategy
  • Contribute to the product roadmap
  • Engage in architecture discussions
  • Lead and mentor two software teams and one data team
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and IoT product teams across Switch2
  • Work with technical and non-technical team members to understand product requirements
  • Work with business stakeholders to prioritize and refine future workstreams
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Produce maintainable, high-quality code as an individual contributor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience leading a team or teams
  • Experience guiding and shaping a workstream to ensure the right product is built
  • Experience mentoring others and helping them grow their careers and competencies
  • Desire to work with Rust and within the functional programming paradigm
  • Strong proficiency in Rust, TypeScript, and the Node toolchain
  • Experience with coding best practices
  • Experience with automation testing frameworks and proficiency with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience working with non-technical stakeholders and understanding non-functional requirements
  • Experience with agile best practices such as TDD, pair programming, and short, iterative feedback cycles
  • Understanding and experience with APIs, databases, and cloud technology (AWS)
  • Experience and expertise with design and cloud architecture
