About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Utilize e-Prescribing software and telemedicine software
  • Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing medication management for individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • Provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services depending on experience and qualifications
  • Complete prescription refills, prior authorizations, and required clinical documentation
  • Utilize psychotherapy during Evaluation/Management visits when appropriate
  • Apply safe prescribing practices and evidence-based psychiatric treatment guidelines for patients with co-occurring substance use disorders
  • Complete training and use available diagnostic procedures, including pharmacogenetic testing and computer-based cognition testing
  • Complete and close provider documentation in the Electronic Health Records within 24 hours of the encounter
  • Respond during business hours to correspondence and inquiries from clinic staff regarding psychiatric patients
  • Attend at least 50% of monthly medical provider meetings
  • Attend mandatory company-wide meetings and trainings
  • Attend clinic-level treatment team meetings when clinically indicated, by phone, web, or in person
  • Work with the attending psychiatrist through education, feedback, quality improvement, mentoring, and chart review/audit
  • Provide advance notice of planned absences or vacations so alternative coverage can be arranged
  • Inform the company of changes to licensure, malpractice claims history, prescribing privileges, or ability to perform duties
  • Work collaboratively with the treatment team in a comprehensive, patient-centered approach
  • Perform any other duties assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current Illinois licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification
  • Active DEA registration
  • Ability to provide care to patients in Illinois; Texas licensure may be obtained with company assistance for qualified candidates
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Patient-centered approach with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care
  • Maintain active state/federal prescribing privileges and CME credits as required
  • Comply with state requirements for a collaborative/supervisory agreement for Advanced Practice Nurse with Physician
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA standards for privacy of protected health information
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with the treatment team
  • Ability to arrive on time and wear appropriate professional attire
