About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Give Sales an early technical feasibility assessment for ambiguous Enterprise opportunities
- Own scoping of compliance challenges after sales qualification
- Gather and define requirements for complex, ambiguous opportunities
- Build tailored working proofs of concept for proposed agents
- Translate deployments into business cases covering hours saved, risk reduced, and compliance simplification
- Embed with clients and write production code for compliance decisions
- Diagnose and resolve data issues, jurisdiction mapping problems, and tax ID reconciliation blockers
- Align technical teams and business stakeholders as requirements evolve
- Deliver builds and runbooks that Client Success can operate independently
- Feed structured sales and build insights into product and go-to-market strategy
- Create reusable solution patterns, demo flows, and deployment documentation
- Build and deploy Symmetry-enabled agents in client production environments as part of the Forward Deployed Compliance program
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, AI Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant, or similar
- Proven track record of shipping production systems in ambiguous, client-facing environments
- Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, event-driven systems, auth patterns, data modeling, idempotency, and failure modes
- Experience building production systems in highly regulated categories, with payroll, tax, or compliance fluency deep enough to engage directly with a client's compliance team
- Experience with agentic workflows beyond prototypes, including MCP or function-calling patterns, evaluation, and reliability practices
- Deep technical discovery skills and ability to navigate significant ambiguity
- Ability to scope technical solutions from ambiguous opportunities, build subscription-justifying business cases, and create reusable patterns
- Ability to present to and influence audiences ranging from engineers to executive sponsors
- Entrepreneurial mindset, passion for the mission, and empathy for clients
- AI fluency; team members are expected to actively engage with relevant AI tools
- Bonus: experience with an HR/payroll platform integration surface, enterprise procurement or security review processes, or MEDDPICC-style deal frameworks
