About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership to the Maintenance Team through job assignments, follow-through, and customer satisfaction
- Maintain and repair all equipment in the facility
- Coach and instruct less-experienced technicians
- Ensure maintenance technicians work effectively with customers and contractors
- Develop, plan, and execute capital projects throughout the facility
- Serve as subject matter expert on plant operating systems and utility processes
- Build relationships and use external resources to troubleshoot critical failures and ongoing issues
- Participate in projects to upgrade facility and manufacturing processes
- Communicate significant issues to supervisors or next-level managers and formulate short- and long-term solutions
- Help develop a five-year plan and potential capital improvements for the Hamilton facility
- Conduct preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and servicing production equipment
- Respond to emergencies and address unsafe plant conditions; elevate safety concerns to management daily
- Cross-train with other technicians
- Participate in departmental meetings, activities, and lean initiatives
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with minimal or no assistance to prevent recurrence
Requirements
What you’ll need- H.S. Diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of previous experience in a maintenance mechanic position
- Stationary Engineer license — Chicago specific requirement
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, motors, conveyors, and PLCs
- Technical training certifications preferred
- Knowledge of electrical and/or hydraulic systems
- Understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
- Proven effective problem-solving skills, engaging internal and external customers as needed
- Written and verbal communication skills
