About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop professional user interfaces for learning platforms such as Moodle/Totara
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality, on-time, and on-budget projects
  • Deliver optimum results that meet customer needs
  • Ensure high-quality UI development, implementation, and internal/external documentation
  • Collaborate with non-technical staff on emerging web development techniques and best practices
  • Provide accurate task estimations
  • Seek training opportunities, workshops, seminars, industry events, conferences, and webinars to develop skills and industry insight
  • Participate in the performance enablement programme through 1:1s, skills acquisition, and agreed goals
  • Report to the Development Services Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Residency in the UK or Republic of Ireland, along with the right to work there
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of Virtual Learning Environments such as Moodle/Totara
  • Excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Experience in using JavaScript Frameworks
  • PHP development experience
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (SCSS/LESS)
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Excellent knowledge of web accessibility standards
  • Proven track record of testing, debugging and addressing development issues, such as cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Valuable: experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue
  • Valuable: LAMP experience (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
  • Valuable: experience in NodeJS/NPM
  • Valuable: experience with task runner modules such as Grunt/Gulp
  • Valuable: knowledge of bug/issue tracking software such as JIRA
