About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently validate highly complex, high-impact enterprise models, including Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence models
  • Work with model owners, developers, and users to perform comprehensive validations in compliance with regulatory guidance and company policies
  • Review and challenge model assumptions, theory, empirical evidence, implementation, limitations, results, and reporting context
  • Validate models and analytical tools across fraud monitoring, cybersecurity, credit scoring, marketing, BSA/AML/OFAC, Consumer Compliance, market risk, operational risk, strategic risk, finance and accounting, pricing, valuation, capital adequacy, and stress testing
  • Document and present observations to stakeholders; recommend management action plans and track remediation
  • Present validation results to Executive or Senior Management as appropriate
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring, implementation reviews, outcome analysis, back-testing, and benchmarking
  • Provide oversight and execute model risk management policies and procedures
  • Consult with model owners, developers, and users on model development and operational controls
  • Support quantitative and qualitative reporting for data-driven business decisions and regulatory and risk compliance
  • Review model maintenance and enhancements implemented to address regulator feedback
  • Monitor modeling trends, techniques, tools, best practices, and emerging technology opportunities
  • Mentor, train, and guide less experienced team members
  • Participate in innovations enhancing model validation and governance processes
  • Identify, report, and escalate known or suspected policy, legal, regulatory, or risk-limit violations
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 years of related work experience, or relevant Master's degree with five years of related work experience (three if in financial services), or Ph.D. in relevant quantitative discipline with three years of related work experience in financial services
  • Knowledge of model validation, model risk management, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence approaches
  • Ability to validate models and analytical tools across fraud monitoring, cybersecurity, credit scoring, marketing, BSA/AML/OFAC, Consumer Compliance, market risk, operational risk, strategic risk, finance and accounting, loan pricing, deposit pricing, loan valuation, and capital adequacy including stress testing
  • Ability to review assumptions, theory, empirical evidence, implementation, limitations, results, and reporting context
  • Ability to document and present observations and recommendations to model owners, developers, users, and senior management
  • Knowledge of ongoing monitoring, back-testing, benchmarking, and outcome analysis
  • Ability to oversee and execute model risk management policies and procedures
  • Ability to consult on model development and operational controls
  • Ability to remain current on modeling trends, techniques, tools, and best practices
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced team members
  • Must comply with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits
  • May sit or stand for long periods; regularly talk, hear, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands and reach; see objects up close or at a distance and identify basic colors
  • Up to 10 pounds of weight lifting/force exertion required
  • Travel required less than 25% of the time
  • Driver's license not required
