About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the IRS EDOS program's modernization of legacy tax processing systems
Design, develop, and implement robust solutions for programs and applications
Partner with client teams to architect, develop, and operationalize responsible AI systems
Develop RLHF instruction models, generative applications, and comprehensive guardrails
Drive adoption of AI development standards
Evaluate LLMs against industry benchmarks and custom metrics
Select, build, and fine-tune machine learning models using Python, Java, and open-source frameworks
Apply advanced NLP and ML techniques to complex language challenges
Implement reproducible experiment tracking, Git version control, unit and integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines for ML deployments
Use Docker/Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code to build scalable, maintainable systems
Participate in peer code reviews and document solutions for cross-team knowledge sharing
Identify AI opportunities and shape strategic roadmaps with leadership and stakeholders
Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights
Lead and optimize prompt engineering strategies
Design and implement RAG frameworks
Develop AI applications using Python and cloud services
Manage AI project delivery and support technical implementation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of experience
US Citizenship required
Must possess an active IRS MBI Clearance and have current GFE
Hands on experience with Azure OpenAI and AWS cloud services
Proficient in Python AI application development
Deep understanding of RAG frameworks and prompt engineering techniques
Strong project management and delivery leadership skills
Experience supporting complex AI/ML initiatives
Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders
Experience with machine learning model optimization
Experience with advanced prompt engineering techniques
Experience with cloud infrastructure management
Experience with Agile project delivery methodologies
Excellent oral and written communication skills with client stakeholders at all organizational and technical levels
