About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform daily analytical testing and evaluation of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods
- Use laboratory methods including gas chromatography (GC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), spectrophotometry, titration, wet chemistry, gravimetric, and organoleptic/sensory techniques
- Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of assigned laboratory equipment and analytical instruments
- Evaluate test results and determine conformance with quality standards, specifications, and procedures
- Maintain inventory-management processes, including production-related inventory movements, material quantities consumed, documentation, and storage practices
- Follow company, quality, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and procedures
- Communicate quality-related findings, concerns, and results to appropriate departments
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Work primarily in a laboratory and manufacturing environment while complying with environmental, health, and safety requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or another related scientific field preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience in a quality control environment within the flavor, food, fragrance, chemical, or related manufacturing industry preferred
- Demonstrated experience conducting sensory evaluations of raw materials and finished products
- Ability to approve or reject raw materials and compounds based on GC/analytical data, sensory results, and established product specifications
- Proficiency with computers and standard business software applications
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, good laboratory practices, documentation requirements, and quality-control procedures
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to operate standard office and laboratory equipment and analytical laboratory instruments
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move materials and full containers weighing up to 30 pounds
- Ability to handle hazardous chemicals and materials in a laboratory setting
- Required use of appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats
