About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and operate production backend services at scale for the Logistics Courier Pay Network
Design and operate services powering the courier network
Own backend systems end-to-end, including data modelling, event flows, deployment, and production operations
Contribute to the architecture of an event-driven platform
Deliver robust, performant, and observable backend services
Work closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ship logistics features
Champion modern backend practices
Mentor peers and help shape backend engineering practices
Design RESTful APIs using gRPC, GraphQL, or AsyncAPI where applicable
Implement event-driven architectures, pub/sub, asynchronous processing, idempotency, and DDD patterns
Manage databases, caching, schema design, query tuning, and migrations
Deploy production systems on AWS/Azure using Kubernetes
Maintain CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, and performance/load testing practices
Monitor metrics, logs, APM, and distributed tracing using Datadog or similar platforms
Use AI agents for automated pull requests, debugging, code generation, refactoring, and reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale
Strong proficiency in Java, Quarkus, Spring Boot, or similar JVM frameworks
Deep experience with event-driven architectures including Kafka, SQS, and SNS
Solid grounding in Domain Driven Design (DDD) patterns for distributed systems
Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases including Aurora RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
Production deployment on AWS/Azure using Kubernetes (EKS)
Strong experience with observability tools such as Datadog
RESTful API design experience
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Terraform/CloudFormation
Experience with automated performance/load testing frameworks
Practical enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and agentic engineering
Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar AI tools and agents
Collaborative mindset and experience working across Agile software development cycles
