About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review manuscripts, publication text, tables, figures, and supplementary materials for file type, completeness, accuracy of medical and scientific terminology, and conformity
- Confirm confidentiality, legal authority, and privacy protections comply with federal laws and agency requirements
- Recommend changes needed to meet applicable laws and requirements and identify inconsistencies or gaps
- Review proposed collections to verify inclusion of OMB-required statements concerning agency confidentiality, legal authority, and privacy protections
- Review consent language in prepared documents for compliance with CDC and NCHS confidentiality requirements
- Conduct high-level statistical disclosure reviews of microdata files and/or tables before dissemination
Requirements
What you’ll need- Regulatory literacy on 45 CFR 46
- Knowledge of IRB procedures related to complex informed consent and assent, including broad consent, biomarker research, and sensitive data collections
- Knowledge of Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35) requirements
- Knowledge of OMB regulations (5 CFR 1320)
- Familiarity with statistical disclosure limitation methods for microdata files and tables displaying counts or frequencies
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to evaluate and develop technical and procedural documentation
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Master’s degree or higher in health sciences, social sciences, statistics, or a related field
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer
- May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
