About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish, deploy, refine, and oversee Systems Engineering standards and best practices across the enterprise
  • Serve as a technical leader and change agent
  • Embed with a customer/end-user focused group to drive early-lifecycle Systems Engineering
  • Collect Voice of the Customer (VOC)
  • Define stakeholder needs and model the problem space
  • Derive rigorous stakeholder requirements
  • Execute requirements decomposition in the problem space
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze VOC
  • Translate VOC into stakeholder needs and derive stakeholder requirements
  • Build MBSE model behavior to derive stakeholder requirements and define problems for the solution space
  • Perform requirements gap and overlap analysis against existing requirements
  • Train and mentor members on requirements decomposition and MBSE modeling
  • Drive development, documentation, promotion, and enforcement of enterprise-wide systems engineering standards
  • Build and maintain an MBSE Governance model for program processes, group functions, and strategic objective alignment
  • Develop and conduct training to ensure adoption and compliance with Systems Engineering Standards
  • Execute additional systems engineering activities across the program lifecycle as needed
  • Provide solutions that help innovators design, develop, verify, and advance critical systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience
  • 3+ years Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using SysMLv1 and tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture
  • Familiarity with proper requirements decomposition and requirements management
  • Knowledge of established MBSE methodologies, such as MagicGrid and OOSEM
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive adoption of new processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to interface effectively with technical teams and government stakeholders
  • Required to work at WPAFB a minimum of two days a week
  • Ability to travel by air, car, or other transportation methods
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift and carry lightweight items up to 25 lbs
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, mouse use, writing, and handling equipment
  • Visual acuity to read technical documents, view computer screens, and operate software systems
  • Auditory ability to participate in meetings, customer demos, and conference calls, including in potentially noisy environments
  • Mobility to move between office spaces, customer sites, conference venues, and manufacturing or lab environments
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work environments
  • Preferred: Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance or clearance within the last 12 months
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or related technical field
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in DoD or defense-related programs
  • Preferred: Experience with SysMLv2
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Air Force or DoD acquisition processes and systems engineering standards, including MIL-STD-499C and IEEE 15288
  • Preferred: Experience authoring technical standards, style guides, or SOPs
  • Preferred: Familiarity with INCOSE Guide for Writing Requirements or other industry-standard requirement quality frameworks
  • Preferred: INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification
  • Preferred: Familiarity with UAFML, BPMN, and/or DODAF
  • Preferred: Experience in technical mentorship, peer coaching, or leading training workshops
  • Preferred: Experience in Agile, DevSecOps, or integrated digital engineering environments
