About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive sales growth, develop strategic customer relationships, and expand market share within the assigned territory.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of turf industry customers, including golf courses, sports complexes, municipalities, landscapers, distributors, and turf management professionals.
- Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans to achieve revenue, margin, and market share objectives.
- Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities across turf-related markets.
- Maintain and expand existing customer relationships through consultative selling and account management.
- Develop annual business plans for key accounts and distributors.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
- Generate sales forecasts and maintain a sales pipeline.
- Serve as the primary customer contact within the assigned region.
- Conduct customer visits, product demonstrations, field evaluations, and business reviews.
- Partner with turf and landscaping decision-makers to identify operational solutions.
- Resolve customer concerns and coordinate resources for service and retention.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, and association meetings.
- Provide technical expertise on turf products, agronomic practices, equipment, and services.
- Collaborate with agronomy, operations, marketing, customer support, product development, customer service, and finance teams.
- Conduct product training and educational presentations for customers and distributors.
- Share marketplace insights and customer feedback to support business strategies.
- Participate in regional and national sales meetings.
- Mentor junior sales representatives when appropriate.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel extensively within assigned territory (50-75%).
- Preferred: 5+ years of successful outside sales experience.
- Preferred knowledge of turf, golf, landscaping, agriculture, irrigation, equipment, or related industries.
- Preferred demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships and close complex sales opportunities.
- Preferred turfgrass management, golf course, sports field, or landscaping industry experience.
- Preferred Certified Turfgrass Professional (CTP), Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM), or related certification.
- Preferred knowledge of agronomic practices, turf nutrition, pest management, irrigation systems, or turf equipment.
