About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue, margin, and market share objectives
- Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities across golf, sports turf, municipal, commercial landscaping, and other turf-related markets
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers through consultative selling and regular account management
- Develop annual business plans for key accounts and distributors
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities within the turf industry
- Generate accurate sales forecasts and maintain a robust sales pipeline
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers within the assigned region
- Conduct regular customer visits, product demonstrations, field evaluations, and business reviews
- Partner with superintendents, grounds managers, athletic field managers, landscape contractors, and purchasing decision-makers to identify solutions
- Resolve customer concerns and coordinate resources to ensure exceptional service and customer retention
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, and association meetings
- Provide technical expertise regarding turf products, agronomic practices, equipment, or services
- Collaborate with agronomy, operations, marketing, and customer support teams to deliver value-added solutions
- Conduct product training and educational presentations for customers and distributors
- Develop knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies impacting turf management
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing, product development, customer service, operations, and finance teams
- Share marketplace insights and customer feedback to support future business strategies
- Participate in regional and national sales meetings
- Mentor junior sales representatives when appropriate
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel extensively within assigned territory (50-75%)
- 5+ years of successful outside sales experience preferred
- Knowledge of turf, golf, landscaping, agriculture, irrigation, equipment, or related industries preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships and close complex sales opportunities preferred
- Turfgrass management, golf course, sports field, or landscaping industry experience preferred
- Certified Turfgrass Professional (CTP), Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM), or related certification preferred
- Knowledge of agronomic practices, turf nutrition, pest management, irrigation systems, or turf equipment preferred
