About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Edit analysis and commentary for print and electronic publication according to established procedures
- Edit and review stories for print and electronic publications
- Edit for substance, style, and accuracy; conduct research as needed; ensure proper citation style
- Ensure a consistently high level of quality in commentary and news stories
- Write and edit legal summaries and summaries for published material
- Coordinate with other editorial departments to assure quality of published articles
- Enter information in the Content Management System
- Participate in company-sponsored conferences and roundtable discussions as needed
- Respond to internal and external content queries
- Explain peer review standards to outside sources when required
- Adhere to publication deadlines and the company style guide
- Organize, prioritize, and assign source material documents for summarizing as needed
- Coordinate final layout and changes to printed material with the editorial team
Requirements
What you’ll need- J.D. required
- 2+ years of experience in writing, editing or copy editing print and electronic products, including experience in substantive editing of print documents for online presentation
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard style manuals
- LL.M. preferred
- Previous experience in tax publishing preferred
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of writing and editing concepts and principles
- Must be able to evaluate content for grammar, clarity, and coherence
- Technical expertise in tax-related subject matter, generally acquired through education, but may also be acquired on the job
- Ability to apply knowledge of tax law and writing concepts in a flexible, appropriate manner to diverse media and formats
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain rapport
- Ability to work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced team environment
- Good computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Windows and MS Word
- Frequently required to sit for prolonged periods, talk and hear; use hands to type, file, handle or feel; reach with arms
- Visual acuity to use a computer and keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures, and read extensively
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
