About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Expand the portfolio and maximize the value of existing commercial business customer relationships for credit and non-credit products and services
  • Conduct credit analysis for the assigned portfolio
  • Create an initial shadow portfolio of target businesses
  • Lead account management, credit risk and operational risk for an assigned portfolio
  • Use sales platforms to understand customer and target needs, industries and markets
  • Build market, customer and economic knowledge
  • Identify business-environment changes and establish action plans for customer issues and priorities
  • Develop centre of influence strategies and relationships
  • Identify and respond to customer and prospect referral opportunities
  • Participate in networking events and enhance the TD brand
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to attract, acquire and retain customers and referrals
  • Build new relationships and deepen existing relationships using the Business Banking Relationship Methodology
  • Promote and offer the full suite of products, sales, services and banking capabilities
  • Negotiate to maximize relationship profitability based on customer risk profiles
  • Prepare credit applications, including risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence and credit presentation
  • Monitor accounts and ensure compliance with guidelines and assigned limits
  • Renew credits in a timely manner
  • Refer customers to business partners within Business Banking and across TDBG
  • Identify, manage and escalate risks and non-standard or high-risk transactions
  • Ensure regulatory and operational risk compliance
  • Support a positive team environment and communicate issues promptly
  • Provide industry knowledge and participate in knowledge transfer
  • Keep current on emerging trends, developments, tools and techniques
  • Mentor colleagues and share best practices
  • Develop productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Report to the Senior Manager Commercial Services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree and/or 5+ years of relevant experience and/or Associate Program
  • Experience working as a professional accountable for origination of new business and relationship management of existing commercial business customers
  • Ability to manage a portfolio with moderate cash management, deposit and credit complexity requirements
  • Credit acumen and ability to interpret and analyze customer financial statements
  • Solid knowledge of products, sales, services, credit management practices and processes, methods and operating standards
  • Ability to solve problems of moderate complexity and recommend new product and service solutions
  • Ability to build stakeholder alignment and provide advice to customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to meet or exceed business targets
  • Ability to comply with regulatory and operational risk requirements
  • Ability to comply with Bank and industry Code of Conduct
  • Ability to work under moderate guidance and supervision
  • Ability to participate in cross-training, knowledge transfer and performance development activities
