About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop new components for engineering programs and projects
  • Work on small features and develop small tools
  • Support business enquiries and activities through enhancements and break/fix implementations
  • Configure and develop custom components to meet application requirements and performance goals
  • Analyze technical requirements and recommend pragmatic engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technology partners to meet technical direction, requirements, performance, time-to-market and innovation goals
  • Monitor product lifecycles and undertake redevelopment where required
  • Document and verify system components, applications, infrastructure, security, integration, operability and architecture designs
  • Participate in quality management reviews of designs, prototypes and requirements work products
  • Create as-built program activities using configuration management processes
  • Create and maintain quality code and provide code maintenance and testing-cycle support
  • Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze outages and facilitate communication through resolution
  • Identify and recommend development, testing solutions and tools
  • Apply secure coding practices
  • Identify and document technical decisions, risks and lessons learned, and implement enhancements
  • Deliver solutions on time, within budget and according to development and quality standards
  • Create project documentation covering system requirements, scope and cost estimates
  • Identify and manage risks and escalate high-risk activities
  • Participate as a team member and support a positive, diverse work environment
  • Enhance knowledge, participate in knowledge transfer and share knowledge across teams
  • Collaborate with development teams to define and validate user stories, acceptance criteria and definitions of done/ready
  • Keep current on emerging trends and developments
  • Participate in performance management, development activities and cross-training
  • Communicate project status and relevant day-to-day information
  • Assist colleagues and provide training, coaching and guidance as appropriate
  • Act as a brand ambassador for TD
  • Perform low- to moderately-complex technical tasks under general supervision
  • Execute program specifications and solve routine problems using existing procedures
  • Generally report to a Practice Lead

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background, e.g. computer science or engineering
  • Basic working knowledge of specific domain or engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures
  • Foundational knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business / organization, and Bank standards
  • Ability to execute, adapt, integrate, code, test and debug programs
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices
  • Knowledge of configuration management processes
  • Knowledge of system requirements, estimates of scope and cost, and project documentation
  • Knowledge of risk management, internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
