About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead end-to-end accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting and operational finance activities for Canadian Personal & Commercial Banking and Daily Reconciliation functions
  • Own and coordinate financial operations activities across CAD P&C Accounting and Daily Reconciliation
  • Govern the accounting lifecycle, including transaction capture, journal processing, sub-ledger integrity, balance sheet substantiation, financial reporting, issue remediation and control certification
  • Monitor process and control execution, identify gaps and oversee remediation plans
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and ensure preventative or detective controls mitigate risks
  • Lead month-end accounting and financial and regulatory reporting deliverables
  • Ensure balance sheet account reconciliations comply with TD policies and control standards
  • Oversee preparation, review and presentation of legal entity financial statements
  • Direct operational accounting activities supporting business transactions and initiatives
  • Lead implementation of new accounting processes, policies and business initiatives
  • Modernize accounting, reconciliation and reporting through automation, digitization and process simplification
  • Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs and operational performance goals
  • Serve as Finance Operations focal point for accounting and policy matters and business escalations
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level communications, analysis and recommendations
  • Strengthen the accounting control environment
  • Liaise with Internal Audit and External Audit partners and coordinate responses to reviews and findings
  • Identify and deliver productivity, simplification, automation and cost-efficiency opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation or Finance Operations functions
  • Deep accounting expertise and knowledge of financial reporting, controls and operational finance processes
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of financial systems, processes and procedures
  • Proven experience leading transformation, automation and modernization initiatives
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making, negotiation and influence skills
  • Strong executive communication, presentation and strategic storytelling capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and develop diverse, high-performing teams
