About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct in-depth industry and financial analysis of existing and potential borrowers
  • Support Lending and Credit functions of the Bank
  • Handle complex loans, industries and Customers independently
  • Research industry-specific information from borrowers, publications, libraries, other banks, credit agencies and the Internet
  • Participate in Customer meetings and make direct inquiries for specific Customer information
  • Perform underwriting analysis of borrowers’ character, creditworthiness and financial condition
  • Provide analytical support to the lending function
  • Prepare timely approval memorandums for lending and credit authorities
  • Analyze financial statements, management profiles, business and product cycles, cash flow ability, collateral and agings
  • Prepare written analyses with recommendations for approval, denial or alternative structures
  • Maintain credit files and monitor updated financial statements
  • Prepare updated analysis memorandums
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Identify deviations from Company Commercial Loan Policy and recommend alternative structures to reduce credit risk
  • Meet operational performance standards for quality and timeliness
  • May train, mentor and coach junior analysts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years related experience required
  • Knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques
  • Strong understanding of loan risk factors
  • Ability to independently gather, consolidate, analyze and summarize data to provide recommendations for commercial credit relationships
  • Ability to identify and quantify business risks and key risk drivers
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Well developed research and analytical skills
  • Ability to defend analytical decisions in conversations at all levels
  • PC skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of credit and Customer information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team orientation
  • Ability to coach, train and lead junior staff in credit and financial analysis techniques
  • Occasional domestic travel
  • Ability to perform sedentary work continuously and operate standard office equipment continuously
