About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct in-depth industry and financial analysis of existing and potential borrowers
  • Support Lending and Credit functions of the Bank
  • Handle complex loans, industries, and Customers independently
  • Research industry-specific information from external sources
  • Participate in Customer meetings and make direct inquiries for specific Customer information
  • Perform underwriting analysis of borrowers’ character, creditworthiness, and financial condition
  • Provide analytical support to the lending function
  • Prepare approval memorandums for lending and credit authorities
  • Analyze financial statements, management profiles, business and product cycles, cash flow, collateral, and aging data
  • Identify trends, measure performance, assess financial strength, and develop credit-risk assessments
  • Prepare written analyses with recommendations for approval, denial, or alternative structures
  • Maintain credit files and monitor updated financial statements and analysis memorandums
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Identify deviations from Commercial Loan Policy and recommend alternative structures to reduce credit risk
  • Meet operational performance standards for quality and timeliness
  • May train, mentor, and coach junior analysts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years related experience required
  • Knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques
  • Strong understanding of loan risk factors
  • Ability to independently gather, consolidate, analyze and summarize data for commercial credit relationships
  • Ability to identify and quantify business risks and key drivers of risk
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Well developed research and analytical skills
  • Ability to defend analytical decisions at all levels of conversation
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of credit and Customer information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team orientation
  • Ability to coach, train and lead junior staff in credit and financial analysis techniques
  • Occasional domestic travel availability
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, operate standard office equipment, sit, concentrate for long periods, read and comprehend instructions, and perform basic arithmetic continuously
