About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collect data and use data science techniques, including data wrangling, profiling, visualization, and statistical inference, to uncover actionable insights or build analytics solutions
- Develop and monitor financial crime risk models
- Work autonomously within a specialized business management function and provide work direction to others
- Provide specialized knowledge, advice, and guidance to stakeholders and team members
- Complete complex projects and initiatives requiring specialist knowledge or cross-functional process integration
- Perform tasks independently from end to end
- Understand business context and data infrastructure and translate business problems into viable data science solutions
- Extract and prepare data, apply statistics and advanced analytics, and use business acumen to extract insights from big data
- Visualize insights to clearly communicate results to decision-makers and stakeholders
- Collaborate with data and business analysts, software engineers, data engineers, and application developers on scalable data science solutions
- Improve business processes through data-driven insights
- Educate the organization on hypothesis testing and statistical validation
- Translate current information into continuous improvement activities
- Participate in cross-functional and enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert
- Monitor service and productivity and implement process and performance improvements
- Implement remediation plans for performance, risk, and governance issues
- Manage relationships with business lines, corporate functions, control functions, and stakeholders
- Monitor emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements and assess impacts
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control
- Participate as a team member, support a positive work environment, and communicate issues promptly
- Provide thought leadership and transfer knowledge within the team and business unit
- Participate in performance management, development, and cross-training
- Keep stakeholders informed about project status and day-to-day activities

Requirements
What you’ll need- Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
- Must not require current or future TD sponsorship
- Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred, e.g. math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science
- Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience; higher degree education and research tenure can be counted
- Hands-on experience in modeling, especially tree-based algorithms and advanced data analytics
- Strong coding skills in Python and SQL
- Knowledge of the AML domain is a plus
- Experience delivering production-grade models in a cloud environment
- Experience in neural network architecture and Transaction Monitoring
- Graduate degree candidates with approximately 1+ years' experience will be considered
