About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate day-to-day sales functions of Mortgage Loan Officers
  • Act as the main communication facilitator between the MLO, sourcing agents, customers, vendors, mortgage operations, and sales support
  • Serve as a central point of contact for customers to resolve issues and difficulties
  • Assist high-producing loan officers with timely completion of loan applications
  • Actively manage document collection from origination to closing
  • Manage the Mortgage Loan Officers’ pipeline, track deliverables, and update borrowers on loan status
  • Set customer expectations regarding rate inquiries, third-party providers, loan status, and other information
  • Confirm appointments and review required application documents with customers
  • Facilitate full or partial application intake
  • Discuss products and pricing at the loan officer’s request or absence
  • Review files for potential income and asset issues and remedy them before underwriting
  • Assist in structuring deals to meet underwriting guidelines
  • Advocate for client files and manage underwriting escalations when necessary
  • Explain TD underwriting guidelines to borrowers
  • Write credit memos explaining unique circumstances and summarizing lending requests
  • Liaise between Loan Officers, Mortgage Operations, and Sales Support
  • Develop a customer database to support new marketing opportunities
  • Follow up with sales leads on behalf of the MLO
  • Proactively manage the lead pipeline with the MLO
  • Build relationships with MLO referral partners independently
  • Provide high-level service to internal and external customers
  • Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-3 Years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of underwriting and mortgage guidelines
  • Exceptional interpersonal and sales skills for following up with prospective borrowers
  • Sound knowledge of mortgage lending, products, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with basic mortgage loan origination systems
  • Highly developed customer service skills
  • Ability to explain complex mortgage information in simple understandable terms
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic detail oriented environment
  • Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations required, including Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, RESPA, and Reg Z
  • Knowledge of state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines and regulations
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills
  • Must be eligible for employment with a covered financial institution under Regulation Z standards
  • Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with the NMLS in accordance with the SAFE Act
  • Satisfactory criminal background check, credit report, and required government-agency findings statements
  • Occasional domestic travel; no international travel
