About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute to the development, oversight, and implementation of TD’s sanctions compliance programs
  • Support sanctions frameworks, methodologies, policies, standards, procedures, awareness, specialized training, monitoring, management reporting, and issue escalation
  • Conduct periodic and event-driven reviews for sanctions risks involving customers and transactions
  • Support sanctions risk assessments, regulatory exam preparation, and internal/external audit support
  • Work independently as senior analyst and sanctions compliance subject matter expert
  • Coach and educate others on regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Oversee or independently perform end-to-end sanctions screening and escalation processes
  • Execute complex and non-standard sanctions requests, including high-risk reviews and regulatory reporting
  • Research and investigate sanctions alerts, operational issues, and process gaps
  • Recommend and implement solutions to strengthen sanctions controls and governance frameworks
  • Coordinate with AML, FCRM, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams for holistic risk management
  • Provide advanced analysis and specialized reporting on sanctions metrics, trends, and regulatory adherence
  • Represent the group on sanctions-related projects, regulatory initiatives, and cross-border governance meetings
  • Develop team procedures and governance processes for sanctions compliance
  • Prepare summaries, presentations, briefing notes, reports, research, and analysis
  • Provide sanctions compliance advice and subject matter expertise to business partners
  • Develop and deliver sanctions training programs
  • Monitor industry developments and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Participate in audits, regulatory reviews, examinations, product initiatives, and cross-functional enterprise projects
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and keep stakeholders informed of project progress

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Advanced degree, professional accreditation, and/or 5+ years
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong reading comprehension and writing skills
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and clearly communicate key points
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. regulatory environment, particularly U.S. regulatory notifications
  • Experience in financial crime, sanctions, and regulatory/compliance
  • Ability to absorb and process information quickly
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work with a geographically distributed team
  • Advanced technical and regulatory knowledge of global sanctions regimes and screening systems
  • Understanding of financial institutions and how legislation applies to their U.S. businesses
  • Experience with financial-crime-related legislation
  • Familiarity with anti-bribery/anti-corruption legislation, including the FCPA, would be valuable
  • Experience advising business partners on regulatory or sanctions-related matters would be helpful
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including continuous sedentary work, sitting, concentration, and reading/writing/comprehending instructions
  • Occasional domestic travel; no international travel
