About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze business requirements and conduct program/system research and analysis to identify solution components and resolve problems
  • Develop new applications and perform unit/component testing aligned to business needs and technology architecture standards
  • Communicate solution development requirements and contribute to project plans, estimates, timelines, and status updates
  • Inform stakeholders of project-impacting issues and resolve or escalate them
  • Support business enquiries and activities through enhancements and break/fix implementations
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, and Solution Designers
  • Create and maintain quality code and provide code maintenance and support during testing and post-production deployment
  • Participate in peer code reviews
  • Apply secure coding practices
  • Identify and recommend development and testing solutions/tools
  • Complete unit and integration testing
  • Participate in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis
  • Maintain processes for issue prevention and resolve incidents
  • Administer supported applications/environments, monitor performance, and perform configuration, backup, authentication, and tuning
  • Maintain application health monitoring and monthly SLA targets
  • Provide technical expertise during incident management and facilitate communications through resolution
  • Act as a subject matter expert and consultant for partner teams
  • Work as a senior or lead developer and coach team members
  • Typically report to an Engineering Manager or above

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • 5-7 years relevant experience
  • Great communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently as the Senior or Lead Developer, providing coaching and guidance to the team
  • Experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert and Consultant for partner teams
  • Advanced knowledge of technology, tools, programming languages, processes, and procedures
  • Expertise in Web Application Design/Development using Java/Spring Boot
  • Experience with Angular and Node.js
  • Experience with Tomcat and JBoss runtime environments
  • Experience with REST, SOAP, JAX-WS, JAXB2, JAX-RS, and Web API
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodology, particularly Scrum or a derivation
  • Experience with Confluence and JIRA
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery tooling including Maven, Nexus, and Jenkins
  • Experience with GIT (Stash) and Bitbucket
  • Relational DBMS proficiency, including Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2
  • Cloud Technologies experience such as Azure or AWS is an asset
  • Experience integrating vendor products and working with third-party external companies is an asset
