About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts and financial statements
  • Review assigned accounts for accuracy and ensure transactions are properly recorded
  • Research technical accounting areas for GAAP and SEC compliance
  • Monitor systems and accounts for accurate and timely processing
  • Perform account reconciliations and post journal entries
  • Lead month-end closing activities, including reconciliations, analysis, journal entries, accruals, and reporting
  • Analyze financial statements and prepare or review variance analyses
  • Maintain procedural and control documentation
  • Apply GAAP and regulatory-specific accounting guidance to revenue, fixed asset, treasury, and general accounting functions
  • Review and verify account coding accuracy
  • Provide income tax and transaction tax support
  • Prepare and analyze monthly income and balance sheet statements for internal and external reporting
  • Respond to financial inquiries and provide information for business management and external reporting
  • Prepare or review journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Support internal and external audits and prepare certain external regulatory filings
  • Lead assigned accounting activities and validate work product
  • Share best practices and provide feedback to team members
  • Provide ad hoc support on critical accounting issues
  • Lead periodic asset impairment analysis and accounting analysis for mergers and acquisitions
  • Develop and maintain team procedures and documentation
  • Represent the team at project meetings
  • Contribute to team goals, prioritize workload, review others’ work, and mentor team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting -OR- 4+ years equivalent professional work experience
  • 3+ years’ public accounting experience or 5+ years’ corporate accounting experience with the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), or equivalent combination of technical and functional experience
  • CPA preferred or eligibility to sit for the CPA within the first six months of employment
  • Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules, and Sarbanes Oxley Act requirements
  • Knowledge of quarterly, annual and periodic external reporting processes of 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K and other SEC filings
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, fast moving organization under competing priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and SAP
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, within a team, or leading a team
  • Strong results orientation, including performance metrics and required delivery dates
  • Sharp, rigorous thinker able to operate as an intellectual leader
  • Confidence, credibility, and team-above-self outlook
  • Ability to foster constructive development regarding training, recruitment, team building, and change
