About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs using Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot or Node.js/TypeScript
  • Build high-quality web applications with React and TypeScript
  • Contribute to the design system and micro-frontend architecture
  • Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable, resilient, and secure services
  • Apply domain-driven and event-driven principles
  • Design data models and select appropriate SQL and NoSQL storage
  • Design asynchronous integrations using Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ
  • Own deployment and operation of services with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and observability
  • Drive testing strategy across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development and establish team practices
  • Mentor engineers
  • Lead code reviews
  • Promote engineering best practices across teams
  • Own features end to end and shape technical direction across the stack

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of professional experience in software development across backend and frontend
  • Track record of leading technical topics
  • Strong backend experience with Java and/or Kotlin and Spring Boot, or with Node.js and TypeScript
  • Strong experience with React and TypeScript
  • Experience with modern state management, e.g. Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or TanStack Query
  • Experience with design systems or micro-frontends is a plus
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and software architecture
  • Solid experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases
  • Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ
  • Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production observability
  • Good knowledge of security best practices for backend and web applications
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor
  • Clear view on how to use AI coding tools responsibly in a team
  • Experience mentoring engineers and working in agile teams
  • Ability to work in Austin, TX
  • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States
