About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, coach and develop a group of Team Leads, supporting their growth as people managers and technical leaders
Set expectations, run regular 1:1s and feedback cycles, and identify and develop future leaders
Align multiple agile teams around shared goals and consistent practices
Own delivery and long-term evolution of backend services powering TeamViewer products
Balance new capabilities with stability, security and technical debt
Drive roadmap execution with Product Management and stakeholders
Ensure backend services meet standards for availability, performance, security and compliance
Collaborate with product and engineering teams on integration, shared standards and scalable solutions
Oversee capacity planning, resource allocation and hiring
Promote engineering excellence and agile best practices across development, testing, deployment and operations
Support professional development through coaching, feedback and career planning
Translate technical progress and risk into business-relevant updates for senior management
Champion open communication, psychological safety, ownership and accountability

Requirements

What you’ll need

A university or college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
8+ years of experience in software engineering
4+ years in a managerial role within software development, ideally in an agile environment
1+ years of experience leading leaders, such as Team Leads or Engineering Managers
Proven track record of leading multiple teams building and operating backend services in production through a layer of Team Leads
Strong understanding of distributed systems, software architecture, scalability, and the full development and operations lifecycle
Experience with services requiring high security, reliability and backward compatibility is a strong plus
Experience in strategic planning, team building and performance management, including hiring and onboarding Team Leads
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across teams and stakeholders
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Portuguese or German is a plus
