About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead architectural design and technical implementation of scalable, maintainable, reliable, and secure software solutions using open-standard technologies
Develop and maintain software solutions using modern Java enterprise development practices and industry-standard frameworks
Design, develop, test, and maintain clean, efficient, secure source code within Government-owned Git repositories
Provide technical leadership and guidance to software development teams
Conduct mandatory peer code reviews
Ensure automated quality and security requirements through continuous integration, automated testing, and SAST
Analyze and remediate software vulnerabilities, including Blocker, Critical, and High findings before task completion
Identify, evaluate, and execute technical debt remediation based on Government priorities
Maintain software quality metrics, including 90% minimum automated test coverage for new code, SonarQube rating of A, and inline documentation for at least 90% of methods
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on DoD RMF and STIG compliance
Research and evaluate AI/ML, low-code/no-code, and AI-assisted development technologies
Mentor software engineers and promote modern development practices
Support continuous improvement in software quality, performance, security, and mission effectiveness

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
Minimum 7 years of experience developing Java enterprise applications
Strong experience with Java enterprise application development, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and Microservices architectures
Experience with SonarQube, GitLab CI/CD, and Static Application Security and Testing (SAST) tools
Experience developing secure software solutions within a DevSecOps environment
Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards
Experience supporting DoD cybersecurity requirements, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) and STIG compliance
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, secure coding practices, and modern development methodologies
Active Secret Security Clearance
