About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Carry out reactive, planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance on manufacturing and site equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related faults
- Support production and operational departments with machinery troubleshooting and fault resolution
- Ensure equipment reliability and minimise downtime
- Participate in equipment commissioning, installation, and improvement projects
- Adhere to electrical regulations and standards, including IEE Wiring Regulations where applicable
- Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, company policies, risk assessments, and statutory requirements
- Record maintenance activities using electronic maintenance management systems and other reporting methods
- Communicate maintenance issues, corrective actions, and recommendations with colleagues and stakeholders
- Review maintenance performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Identify, propose, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Support root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
- Contribute to improved maintenance processes and best practices
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
- Promote a positive safety culture and maintain a safe working environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Time-served Maintenance Technician with a recognised engineering apprenticeship
- Previous maintenance experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, ideally Allen Bradley systems
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Mechanical maintenance experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work shifts
- 17th/18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification (desirable)
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering (desirable)
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification (desirable)
- Experience supporting equipment installation and commissioning projects (desirable)
