About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, and maintain HTTP APIs in Python, including contracts, versioning, authentication, pagination, error handling, and OpenAPI documentation
Model and query data in PostgreSQL, read query plans, and create indexes when necessary
Read from and write to S3-compatible object storage
Write automated tests and maintain continuous integration
Package services in containers and deploy them
Participate in migrating databases, storage, and services to the public cloud, including infrastructure as code, secrets, backups, monitoring, and cost control
Keep existing services operational during the transition
Work closely with technical leadership, with autonomy over the routes you build

Requirements

What you’ll need

Three or more years of production experience with Python and an API web framework—FastAPI, Flask, or Django REST Framework
Knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including data modeling, joins, indexes, and migrations
Experience with S3-compatible object storage
Experience with Docker and the Linux command line
Experience with Git and team-based code review
Experience with continuous integration using GitHub Actions or an equivalent tool
Experience writing automated tests as part of your regular work
Technical reading proficiency in English
