About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead end-to-end design processes from discovery to delivery across multiple product areas
- Plan and own design work independently
- Contribute to and maintain the design system
- Promote best practices in quality, accessibility and usability
- Lead AI tool adoption by identifying routine work for automation, assessing workflow fit, and supporting team adoption
- Frame ambiguous requests into clear problems and drive open questions to resolution
- Explore and present multiple approaches before recommending one
- Revise approaches as new information emerges
- Identify project stakeholders and keep them engaged
- Secure required stakeholder input and agreement
- Communicate design rationale to technical, non-technical and senior audiences
- Become a subject-matter expert in clinical research through self-directed learning
- Apply domain expertise in stakeholder discussions, design reviews and planning sessions
- Mentor designers and colleagues on design best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6-8 years as a product designer, UX/UI designer, or similar
- A strong portfolio of end-to-end web and mobile product design, covering discovery and definition, not solely final UI
- Demonstrable experience leading discovery: defining problems, exploring multiple directions, aligning stakeholders on an approach
- Experience working with and contributing to a design system
- Practical use of AI tools in a design or product workflow to optimise and automate low-level work, plus the appetite to lead team-wide adoption
- Proven ability to lead design in fast-paced, agile environments
- Strong grounding in interaction design, visual design, accessibility and information architecture
- Applicants must be based in Ireland and have the legal right to work here
- Experience in clinical research, life sciences, or another complex or regulated domain OR evidence of building deep expertise in a complex domain through self-directed learning (nice to have)
- Experience presenting directly to executive stakeholders (nice to have)
- Mentorship experience (nice to have)
