About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and manage supply chain contractual activities for assigned suppliers throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Ensure supplier adherence to contractual obligations
  • Lead negotiations related to amendments, change orders, claims, renewals, and dispute resolution
  • Maintain accurate and auditable contract records
  • Collaborate with Legal to draft, review, negotiate, and implement commercial agreements
  • Draft, review, negotiate, interpret, and administer complex commercial agreements, contract terms and conditions, amendments, and statements of work
  • Provide guidance on contractual obligations, commercial risk, and governance
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead commercial discussions
  • Identify and mitigate contractual, commercial, financial, operational, and supplier performance risks
  • Support procurement and contract management activities for Telesat Lightspeed and other strategic initiatives, focusing on defence, aerospace, and government-related procurements
  • Ensure supplier agreements incorporate contractual, regulatory, security, export control, Controlled Goods Program, and government contracting requirements
  • Support Industrial and Technological Benefits obligations where applicable
  • Monitor supplier and subcontractor compliance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support audits, compliance reporting, and contractual deliverables
  • Review, develop, implement, and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement, contract management, supplier governance, and operational efficiencies
  • Ensure required ITB flow-down provisions are incorporated into supplier contracts, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements
  • Administer contractual mechanisms that allocate and manage financial liabilities associated with ITB commitments
  • Collaborate with Finance, Program Management, and other stakeholders to support compliance reporting, audits, and contractual deliverables

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Must obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, contract management, or related commercial role
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and administering complex commercial agreements and supplier contracts
  • Experience supporting defence, aerospace, government programs, and ITB requirements is a strong asset
  • Professional procurement designation is an asset
  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and commercial management skills
  • Strong understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions and risk management principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound business judgment and analytical thinking
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • High integrity and attention to detail
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
