About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and support engineers’ growth, wellbeing, and reliable delivery
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to establish clear team direction
  • Participate in the Engineering Management team with EMs, Staff Engineers, the Architect, and VP of Engineering
  • Build a no-blame team culture where people speak up, disagree constructively, and own mistakes
  • Coach engineers through regular 1:1s, development plans, and feedback
  • Own hiring from job advertisement through onboarding and performance discussions
  • Protect team focus by aligning priorities with the Product Manager and clarifying trade-offs
  • Facilitate sound technical decisions while enabling engineers to own decisions and grow
  • Establish and sustain shared practices covering security, dependencies, and ways of working
  • Drive cross-team engineering initiatives and share effective practices
  • Work hands-on with the team’s technology and contribute to its success

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Solid technical background
  • Strong track record of technical leadership as a Tech Lead or similar
  • Extensive experience in people management
  • Experience with performance conversations, salary reviews, recruitment, and building high-performing teams
  • Experience supporting direct reports’ growth and development
  • Comfortable making unpopular decisions and managing trade-offs between technical quality and delivery speed
  • Clear communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Grounded in agile practices
  • Skilled at facilitating retrospectives and workshops
  • Ability to work calmly in ambiguity and drive clarity
  • Curiosity about personal growth and willingness to seek and act on feedback
