About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and analyze clinical information from medical records to ensure compliance with IVR coding guidelines and LCD/NCD policies
- Conduct retrospective and/or concurrent reviews of Interventional Radiology charges
- Report findings and provide feedback to staff responsible for charge capture, billing operations, and coding
- Identify overcoding, undercoding, and missed coding opportunities
- Present, educate, and communicate findings to improve compliance
- Assist leadership with special projects reviewing IVR charges captured by departments and validated by coding
- Ensure guidelines are followed for code and modifier assignment
- Assist in developing education based on identified gaps
- Work closely with clinical departments and outpatient coding teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years outpatient Interventional Radiology coding & auditing experience
- Skilled and working knowledge of MS Office suite
- Strong technical background and electronic medical record experience
- Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC certified program and corresponding credential achievement
- Coding certification, i.e. CPC, CCS, CIRCC
- Associates or higher-level degree in a Health Information Management discipline (preferred)
- CIRCC /RHIT/RHIA plus CCS or CPC (preferred)
- If required under applicable law, must provide proof of full vaccination or obtain an approved religious or medical exemption before start date; exempt employees must submit to regular testing
