About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for locums recruitment activities, including sourcing, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance standards, and professional development
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to identify and engage qualified locum tenens physicians and advanced practice providers across specialties
- Partner with hospital leadership, market executives, medical staff leaders, and operational stakeholders to understand coverage needs and develop workforce solutions
- Oversee recruitment, placement, and assignment of locum physicians and APPs to fulfill staffing requests and maintain continuity of patient care
- Monitor recruitment pipelines, assignment activity, sourcing effectiveness, fill rates, time-to-fill metrics, and other KPIs
- Manage relationships with locum tenens staffing agencies, physician staffing firms, and vendor partners
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Compliance, Credentialing, Medical Staff Services, Legal, and Operations on provider onboarding and assignment readiness
- Provide reporting and updates on recruitment activity, coverage gaps, assignments, market trends, vendor performance, and recruitment metrics
- Implement sourcing strategies, recruitment technologies, and process improvements
- Maintain recruitment data integrity in Salesforce and other recruitment systems
- Monitor industry trends, physician workforce shortages, compensation expectations, and locums market dynamics
- Support budgeting and resource planning for locums staffing expenditures, vendor utilization, and recruitment initiatives
- Develop proactive staffing strategies to reduce emergency coverage reliance and improve workforce stability
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, recruitment regulations, credentialing requirements, ethical standards, and applicable practices
- Evaluate locums vendor performance, service levels, contractual obligations, cost savings, and process optimization opportunities
- Report to the Senior Director, Physician Recruitments - Tenet Physicians Resources (TPR)
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, Management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of physician recruitment, healthcare staffing, or locum tenens recruitment experience required
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or team management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of locum tenens staffing models, physician workforce planning, credentialing processes, and provider assignment management
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with physicians, APPs, healthcare leaders, staffing agencies, and executive stakeholders
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience using metrics to drive operational performance and recruitment outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and recruitment technologies, including Salesforce or similar CRM/applicant tracking systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Knowledge of healthcare staffing regulations, recruitment compliance requirements, and industry best practices
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management capabilities
- Emotional intelligence, accountability, commitment to team development, and operational excellence
- Professionalism and executive presence while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture
- Motor Vehicle Records check required for selected candidate
- Preferred: experience managing locum tenens physician and APP recruitment within a healthcare system, physician management organization, staffing agency, or healthcare services organization
- Preferred: experience supporting multi-state provider staffing operations
- Preferred: experience managing vendor relationships and contract staffing partnerships
- CPRP certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Knowledge of physician licensing, credentialing, privileging, and temporary staffing processes
