About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical support for robotic welding, material-handling, machine-tending, and automated assembly cells, prioritizing safety, quality, and uptime
- Troubleshoot ladder logic across shifts and assist with PLC fault management and diagnosis
- Provide workaround and improvement insights for logic-related downtime
- Diagnose robot alarms and cell faults, safely recover equipment, and determine root causes of repeated stops, collisions, lost positions, and sequence problems
- Teach and modify robot positions, paths, speeds, zones, frames, tool-center-point data, registers, I/O logic, and routines according to change-control practices
- Maintain robot backups and support mastering, calibration, payload/tooling setup, battery replacement, and recovery after controller or mechanical work
- Troubleshoot robot-to-PLC handshakes, networked or discrete I/O, industrial Ethernet, interlocks, and sequence logic
- Support robot and cell safety systems, including E-stops, gate interlocks, light curtains/scanners, safe zones, DCS functions, and approved teach-mode operation; apply LOTO when required
- Troubleshoot end-of-arm tooling, grippers, clamps, weld guns and torches, dress packs, cables, sensors, valves, fixtures, positioners, and pneumatic or hydraulic systems
- Support robotic MIG and resistance welding applications, including robot paths, torch or gun alignment, wire-feed and weld-equipment interfaces, and coordination with process or weld engineering
- Support vision and measurement systems and isolate failures across robots, PLCs, tooling, sensors, communications, and processes
- Improve cycle time, reliability, and repeatability; perform robot preventive maintenance; support launches and prove-out
- Document changes and train manufacturing or maintenance personnel on operation and recovery
- Perform all other duties as assigned
