About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate the Linux server environment with on-premises clusters (Proxmox, ZFS) and AWS
- Operate and harden networks and security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, access control, certificates, and system hardening
- Manage the network connection to the largest partner
- Automate infrastructure with Ansible, including version control, reproducibility, and documentation
- Manage the container platform (Docker, Nomad, Traefik)
- Manage CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions
- Administer MySQL in production, including backups, performance optimization, and recovery
- Expand monitoring, logging, and alerting with Grafana and New Relic
- Handle incidents through root-cause analysis
- Act as a sparring partner for Engineering, Data, and Product
- Explain technical architecture decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of experience operating Linux server environments (Debian/Ubuntu)
- Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, routing, DNS, load balancing, firewall and VPN administration
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure security: hardening, access control, and security best practices
- Production experience with Ansible
- Experience with container orchestration (Nomad, Kubernetes, or comparable technologies)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with AWS or a comparable public cloud platform
- Production experience administering MySQL
- Bash and Python for tooling
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting
- Good written and spoken English
- Plus: Terraform, RabbitMQ, Redis, and zero-trust concepts
