About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the teams building QV.AC features and app experience on top of the local AI stack
- Report directly to the CTO and take direction from product leadership
- Own engineering execution, technical approach, and engineering quality bar
- Run app and feature teams day to day by unblocking work, reviewing work, and maintaining delivery momentum
- Set and maintain standards for performance, reliability, and clean APIs
- Own technical design of features and the API boundary between the AI core and application
- Coordinate with AI research and deep technology teams on code reviews, design, models, and inference
- Partner with product managers to turn vision and roadmaps into scoped, buildable work
- Challenge mismatches between scope and technical reality and propose better approaches
- Advise product decisions on current local-model capabilities and limitations
- Use AI tools and rapid prototypes to validate ideas
- Clarify team goals and define success criteria
- Mentor team leads and improve team operating systems and collaboration
- Lead by example while balancing hands-on contribution with team ownership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience managing engineers or engineering leads who ship consumer products, ideally AI-powered apps
- Strong product sense
- Intuition for applied AI and on-device constraints, including model size, latency, memory, and battery
- Ability to distinguish reliable features from demonstrations
- No ML research expertise required
- Heavy use of AI tools and interest in experimenting with new models and capabilities
- Deep JavaScript and React experience
- Initiative, curiosity, resilience, and ability to give and receive direct critique
- Preferred: experience with local or on-device inference, LLM evaluations, cross-platform mobile and desktop apps, or open source
- Excellent English communication skills
- Ability to work remotely from an eligible country
