About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Teach assigned didactic and/or immersive nursing courses in graduate and/or undergraduate programs, up to 15 semester credit hours per semester
- Supervise and evaluate students' progress in coursework and clinical experiences
- Implement and evaluate courses as needed
- Serve on and participate in college and university committees
- Advise students throughout their program of studies, as appropriate
- Complete other duties assigned by the program director or department chair
- Develop and evaluate curriculum
- Develop and maintain partnerships in and around the community
- Engage in activities serving the school and the profession
- Support an online Master of Science in Nursing program through hybrid online and on-campus learning activities
- Travel to Laredo and attend campus for designated immersive labs, typically five to six visits per academic year
- Attend the Fall Faculty and Administrative Staff Assembly and one commencement ceremony per academic year
- Participate in face-to-face interactions through regular attendance on campus and in the workplace
Requirements
What you’ll need- Earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited university; ABDs considered but doctorate must be earned before appointment
- Master's degree in nursing
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience as a registered nurse/APRN
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in nursing education
- Current unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the State of Texas
- All certification requirements for APRN for the candidate's specialty
- Experience collaborating with the community and healthcare partners strongly encouraged
- Experience and knowledge of online/distance/hybrid delivery methods in higher education strongly encouraged
- Letter of interest or cover letter addressing qualifications
