About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate, plan, develop and implement the Texas A&M Vashisht College of Medicine undergraduate medical education Rural Medicine Track
- Assist with creating third-year undergraduate medical education curriculum, including course requirements, threads and electives in a longitudinal integrated format
- Coordinate longitudinal integrated curriculum in an e-learning environment using learning management systems and software including Canvas, Elentra and a Time Clock system
- Prepare proposals for the Integrated Medicine Year-At-A-Glance and coordinate development of new programs
- Plan and implement programs and schedules for core clerkships
- Coordinate educational conferences, meetings, lectures, clinical learning sessions, examinations and special events
- Monitor student well-being and performance and assist students facing academic or personal difficulties
- Provide students with resources to optimize learning opportunities
- Develop syllabi and training materials, deliver training, and report program activities
- Maintain confidentiality of FERPA and HIPPA documentation and student records
- Develop and maintain relationships with community physicians, clinical staff, affiliate healthcare systems, clinics and community organizations
- Assist with recruitment of clinical faculty and provide liaison support between faculty, students and administration
- Research, develop, plan and coordinate elective offerings in rural geographic areas
- Support and coordinate VCOM projects and programs external to assigned clerkships
- Apply UME policies, procedures and VCOM medical student handbook guidelines
- Compile and maintain data and prepare materials for LCME and institutional accreditation requirements
- Travel up to 10% or more may be required; work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends may be required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in higher education administration
- Two (2) years of related experience in medical education and/or experience in higher education administration
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present and interface with administrators at all levels
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
- Ability to develop and prepare presentations
- Ability to independently plan, schedule, carry out and meet myriad deadlines
- Strong problem solving, conflict management and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to mediate conversations
- Strong organizational skills
- All positions are security-sensitive; applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials and/or other required information
- Preferred: Master's degree
- Preferred: Three or more years of related experience in medical education and/or experience in higher education administration
- Preferred: Experience with learning management systems (i.e. eCampus, Canvas)
- Preferred: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Preferred: Knowledge and skill in Canva, Advanced Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
