About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide mental health skill-building services to adults and children experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, emotional, and behavioral challenges
  • Teach functional and independent living skills to adults
  • Link clients to community resources and provide ongoing support
  • Provide children and adolescents with skills training in communication, problem-solving, anger management, social skills, and interpersonal interactions
  • Deliver skills training in home, school, or community settings using evidence-based practices aligned with service plan goals
  • Provide crisis intervention through in-person, phone, or on-call support
  • Document client services and progress in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Build therapeutic rapport using active listening, encouragement, and engagement of families and natural support systems
  • Maintain progress notes, service tracking, and outcome measures
  • Collaborate with supervisors, courts, probation, schools, community partners, and families
  • Assist clients with budgeting, transportation, time management, and problem-solving
  • Participate in staff meetings, monthly trainings, and professional development opportunities
  • Maintain communication with supervisors and team members regarding client progress and service delivery
  • Perform other assigned duties supporting the mission of Texas Mental Health & Behavior

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention; OR Licensed Registered Nurse; OR two years of full-time experience providing therapeutic services for children/adolescents with behavioral challenges on an intensive level
  • CANS 3-6, 6-17 & ANSA certifications
  • CANS 3-6, 6-17 & ANSA certified
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and provide immediate support
  • Organizational and documentation skills with attention to compliance
  • Cultural sensitivity and commitment to serving diverse populations
  • Self-motivated, solution-focused, and reliable
  • Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance
  • Personal cell phone
  • Access to a computer or laptop (with printer access as needed)
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when needed
  • Flexible, field-based position requiring travel
