About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Mentor young hockey players on game preparation, training habits, handling mistakes, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the path to college hockey
- Meet students one-on-one over video during academic hours, maintain focus, and support learning progress
- Help students balance academic work with practices, games, tournaments, and travel
- Build consistent, trusted mentoring relationships and provide guidance, accountability, and feedback
- Help students use the AI-powered learning platform, work through challenging material, and develop study and time-management habits
- Set expectations for effort, focus, sportsmanship, and responding to feedback; address concerns and recognize progress
- Communicate student academic progress, hockey approach, and support needs to parents and academy staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Competed in NCAA Division I ice hockey and understands balancing academics, training, competition, and travel
- Experience working with young people in coaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp counseling, teaching, or similar hands-on roles
- Ability to earn students' trust, set clear expectations, give direct feedback, and identify when additional support is needed
- Clear and consistent video communication skills
- Comfortable leading one-on-one sessions and providing useful written updates to parents and staff
- Reliability, punctuality, follow-through, and organization
- Comfortable using AI tools and AI-powered learning platforms, checking outputs and applying independent judgment
- Remote in the U.S.; reliable internet and a quiet space for video sessions
- U.S. work authorization required
