About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process applications, determine eligibility, and coordinate peer review of eligible applications
- Convene and support grant selection panels, preparing committee papers, reports, financial information, and applicant feedback
- Manage newly awarded grants and the Academy’s existing grant portfolio
- Support monitoring of awards and evaluation of grant schemes
- Analyse data and prepare papers, presentations, and reports demonstrating scheme impact
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date grants data
- Research and report on initiatives undertaken by other UK funders
- Work with Academy Fellows serving as peer reviewers, panel members, Chairs, honorary Officers, and Council members
- Act as an external point of contact for grant schemes, advising applicants, awardees, and host organisations
- Develop and maintain relationships with scheme funders
- Collaborate with Academy staff and support other Senior Grants Officers
- Support development and delivery of events for grant holders
- Contribute data and draft papers for governing committees
- Line-manage or project-manage an Academy intern on a rotating basis
Requirements
What you’ll need- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Confident and friendly team player/collaborator within and across teams
- Interest in biomedical and health research
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
- Good IT skills, e.g. Microsoft suite and online databases
- Excellent organisational skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines with precision
- Previous relevant experience (desirable, but not essential)
- Commitment to the Academy’s purpose and work
- Ability to travel from time to time either in the UK or abroad, with occasional overnight stays
